If you were to ask me 5 years ago if I thought I would be where I am now, I probably would have told you something completely different, even if you asked me a year ago. All I know is, my aim is to impact millions of readers with what I know at the moment, what I have learnt so far, and with the great knowledge and experience I will acquire along the way.
With this in mind, I can safely say that there will be times in your journey when you know for sure where you are heading, but sometimes that just isn’t the case; you have to set off on a hunch, without much clarity as to the destination and follow your gut feeling. I say this as I know I definitely have, and I have often surprised myself with the results.
So far, on my journey, I have learnt 3 things that have stuck with me:
- Trust your instincts. You have to begin to almost train yourself to trust your gut feelings. This is that part of you that you cannot control and you sometimes do not really understand it. You can dismiss and silence it or you can let it loose and see where you take yourself and venture into the unknown.
2. Take it one step at a time. As the saying goes, ” no one tests the depth of the water with both feet” Yes, you can jump in at the deep end but you still usually dip a toe in to test the waters first. No matter how “slow” you make progress, you are still making progress. Everyone is on their own journey and you shouldn’t compare yourself to others and their path.
3. Be flexible and be prepared to change direction at any time. Someone once said, ”it is much easier to steer a moving vehicle than a stationary one.” Being open to different options or different routes can help you and you may end up reaching your goals sooner or discovering something else that you may want to focus on entirely.
What I am getting at is, that you can never fully prepare yourself for the future and what is yet to come but you can make sure you look at things objectively and be open to what could come, not everything is set in stone. You are the one who decides on your focus, and your gut feeling is your subconscious mind doing just that. Follow a path but enjoy all the different twists and turns along the way. They make it all that more exciting.
Following this I hope something in this blog resonates with you and helps you on your journey. ‘Do not go where there is a path. Instead go where others haven’t gone, and leave a trail. – Ralph W. Emerson.
